Macular Thickness Profile and Its Association With Best-Corrected Visual Acuity in Healthy Young Adults

چکیده
Purpose: To describe the thickness profiles of full retinal and outer layers (ORL) at macula in healthy young adults, associations with best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA). Methods: In total, 1604 participants (19-30 years) underwent an eye examination that included measurements their BCVA, axial length, autorefraction. The foveal pit nine Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study macular regions (0.5-mm radius around fovea, superior, inferior, temporal, nasal quadrants inner rings macula) were obtained using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography imaging. A custom program was used to correct for transverse magnification effects because different lengths. Results: median ORL thicknesses central 285 µm 92 µm. retina thinnest centrally thickest ring, whereas gradually decreased increasing eccentricity. There no association between length or thickness. Increased associated better BCVA; however, effect size small not clinically significant. Conclusions: This article mapped profile a population-based sample adults. Translational relevance: Thickness values presented this could be as normative reference future studies on adults clinical practice.

Correlation between Visual Acuity and Optical Coherence Tomography-Measured Retinal Thickness in Diabetic Macular Edema
Background and Objective: Diabetic macular edema (DME) is one of the common complications of diabetes which significantly accounts for preventable visual impairment and blindness. Central macular thickness (CMT) is a feature found in DME patients. This study aims to determine the relationship between optical coherence tomography (OCT)-measured CMT and visual acuity (VA) in patients with DME bef...

Macular thickness in healthy Saudi adults
OBJECTIVES To determine the macular thickness in the eyes of healthy Saudi adults using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). Methods: This is a prospective, cross-sectional study, including 158 healthy participants between August and December 2015. Mean subject age was 29.9 ± 7.85 years old. All participants underwent full ophthalmic evaluation, including SD-OCT imaging, and a...
متن کاملCorrelation between peripapillary macular fiber layer thickness and visual acuity in patients with open-angle glaucoma
PURPOSE To determine whether the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) is significantly correlated with the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) in the different peripapillary areas in eyes with open-angle glaucoma (OAG). PATIENTS AND METHODS Two hundred twenty-nine eyes of 159 patients with OAG were studied. The overall RNFLT and the RNFLT in the superior (S), temporal (T), inferior (I)...
